My First “Real World Remixed” Project
Jan 6, 2011 Remixes
I visited this site after hearing about it a long time ago on another forum. I was simply amazed and astonished at the talent represented in the mixes I was listening to! Wanting to aquire new and broaden my existing skills I thought I would give one a try.
I have long identified with the emotional qualities of Peter Gabriel’s voice. I somehow feel connected at times to the sense of urgency and pain in it. Cuts like “Diggin in the Dirt” and “Secret World” resonate deeply with me. So I began this maiden voyage to my 1st remix.
I call this “Struggle” for many reasons. The obvious ones are grappling with the technique necessary to even get one of these going – The other ones are of a more personal but universal nature.
I had only two things in mind at the start:
1) A strong groove and 2). To never (like it would even be possible) subject Peter’s voice to my musical vision…but instead to let whatever musical vision I had for the piece first and foremost (hopefully) serve the classic vocal of this song.
I must say, it was a surreal experience to have this man’s monstrously talented and unique voice “under my control” and fader.
Anyway…enough of the long-windedness.
Here it is – It’s not great by any means but it is a start.
I thank you Peter and all at Real World for giving us/me, who are so very green, an opportunity to bring world-class talent into my little corner room studio!

Updated Studio Photos
Jan 5, 2011 Studio
All right now, the studio isn’t new, but the photos are. A good friend came over the other night and went to work capturing the ambiance and audacity of my studio. If you’re in the DFW area and want some photos of your room, I would highly recommend John Neese. He’s not the most expensive shooter in town, but you wouldn’t know it from his work. He knocked me out with these shots.
Go over to my Photos section and check out the room!
Hey, This is New…
Jan 4, 2011 News
If you’ve found my website for the first time, the welcome! I hope you find what I do here interesting, at least.
If you’ve been here before, then you’ve probably noticed some changes. I’ve updated my site to run on WordPress, and will be adding content and features as the days roll by. I also added some new photos of my recording studio in Dallas, Texas.
I also found a great way to share files with my friends, collaborators, and clients…it’s over at drop.io/ateliersound. I’ll post more audio projects as soon as I get it all together. This is just the beginning!
So look around, and comment away on what you like, what you don’t like, or what you think I’m missing on the site here.
Thanks for stopping by!
